Multi-Location Accounting Considerations

The Multi-Location Accounting (MLA) feature in ACS Contexte is designed to accommodate courts with multiple locations or offices. MLA makes it possible to define different fees for each location. For this to work, the person responsible for setting up your system must specify which users can perform accounting-related tasks in each location or office for your court. This is done on the User/Court Location Validation form (CTVUCLN).

In addition, your court and location can be authorized to create fees or take payments for other courts and locations. This is done on the Accounts Receivable Control form (CBACTRL).

ACS Contexte performs MLA-checking in the following two ways:

• If you call a form on which fees or receipts can be created, the system verifies that you are assigned to a court and at least one location for accounting purposes. If you are assigned to more than one location, you may be prompted to choose one depending on the processing requirements of the form.

• If you attempt to save information for a case with a court or location other than that to which you are assigned, it verifies that your court and location have authorization to create fees or take payments for the case’s court and location.

• If your court is set up as the Central Processing Location in MLA, you may be able to query on some forms, but will not be able to affect fees and fines.
