Enter a Party on the Party ID Window (CMAINIT)
The Party ID window opens for entry of a party when you enter a court type, location, and case type that has been defined:
for a master/subcase numbering schema (regardless of the type of case) on the Sequence Number Control form (COASEQN), or
as a juvenile case (regardless of the numbering schema) on the Category Association Rules form (CTRCASS).
To enter a party on the Party ID window
Enter or search for a Party ID. For more about party types (including judges) that Contexte assigns automatically, click here.
To enter the party using the Identification
form (CPAIDEN), click the arrow next to the Party ID field and
select Identification (CPAIDEN). This allows you to enter additional information,
such as the party's address, at the same time you enter the party.
If you entered a new party directly in the window, enter the Last, First, and Middle names of the party. Otherwise, the system fills these fields automatically.
Press Tab to return to the Case Initiation Maintenance form (CMAINIT).
When the first case is filed for a specific party, the system creates a master case in the background and assigns a subcase number to the case being filed. For example, the first case filed might be numbered JV2000-83-001. The master case number would be JV2000-83. Subsequent cases involving the party are assigned the same master case number plus the next subcase number in sequence. Numbering schemas are defined on the Sequence Number Control form (COASEQN).
For more information about the Sequence Number
Control form (COASEQN), see the ACS Contexte Setup Manual or contact
your system administrator.
