Changing Case IDs or Deleting Cases

If there are content files (for example, text, picture, sound, or movie files) attached to the case record being changed or deleted, you see a message warning you that the case has attached DMS (Document Management System) records. If you change the ID, any content files that are attached are moved to the new case ID; if you delete the case, links from that case to any content files are deleted.

There may also be content files attached to dockets associated with the case being changed or deleted. If so, you see a message warning you that the case has attached docket DMS records. If you change the case ID, the dockets and their associated content files are attached to the docket on the new case; if you delete the case, the dockets and their links to the content files are deleted.
