Enter or Change Fines for a Sentence (CMADISP)
Use the Fines window of the Related Disposition form (CMADISP) to enter a fine or change a fine amount. This window is accessible only from the Sentence tab.
If you try to add fines/fees to a sentence
and you are assigned to
all locations (XX) for a court on the User/Court Location form
(CTVUCLN), you are not prompted to select a location as you are for certain
other forms. Instead, ACS Contexte selects a location authorized to create
fees for the case's court and location. If multiple locations can create
fines/fees, Contexte selects one that can both create fees and
take payments. When multiple locations meet the criteria, Contexte selects
the first one alphabetically. If no locations in your court can create
fees, an error message displays and Contexte stops you from adding any
fees.
To enter fines
Enter the Detail code for the fine. The description appears in the unlabeled field to the right.
Enter the amount of the Fine attached to this sentence.
The Balance is system-maintained and reflects the balance due for the fine. This is calculated based on the amount of the fine minus any payments.
The system calculates the Totals for the fine amounts and balances.
Save.
When you finish entering fines, select Close Window from the File menu to return to the Sentence tab of the Related Disposition form.
To change a fine amount
Scroll to the fine whose amount you want to change, then tab to the Fine field.
Enter the new amount of the Fine. The system calculates the new Totals for the fine amounts and balances.
Certain detail codes are
defined as ineligible for decrease until all other fines/fees are adjusted
to zero. If you try to change an amount for an ineligible detail code
to an amount less than its original
amount, you are prevented from doing so and must zero out all other
fees first. However, if you previously increased the amount, you can decrease
it back to its original amount with no difficulty.
Enter a code for the Reason for the fine adjustment.
Save.
When you finish changing fines, select Close Window from the File menu to return to the Sentence tab of the Related Disposition form (CMADISP).
