Enter Parking Violations (CVAPARK)
Use the Parking Ticket Entry form (CVAPARK) to quickly file parking citations.
You can enter citations only for the courts and locations for which you are authorized under multi-location accounting (MLA). More about Multi-Location Accounting
Entering parking violations may result in fines being added to cases based on the setup on the Violation/Fine Rule Maintenance form (CTRCFIN) or assessed through the Fine Assessment feature of ACS Contexte. Fine Assessment and parking citations
If your jurisdiction uses the automatic case status update feature, a status may be assigned automatically when a case is initially filed. The status is assigned only if no other action is taken affecting case status.
Case descriptions used for parking citations are set up in the Case Description Prefix/Suffix Rule form (CTRDESC) for each court/location/case type combination. The case type description from the Case Type Code Validation form (CTVCTYP) is used as the case description if:
No description rule is set up in CTRDESC for a court/location/case type combination.
A case description rule exists in CTRDESC for a court/location/case type combination, but the party is "Unknown." However, if a case description exists in CTRDESC and a name is associated with the Plate Number you enter, Contexte creates the description based on the rule in CTRDESC.
To enter parking citations
Open the Parking Ticket Entry form (CVAPARK).
Enter the Filing Date and Filing Time for the violation.
Enter the Date that the alleged Violation occurred.
Enter the ID of the Officer or agency who issued the ticket, or search for or add an officer ID. The name displays in the unlabeled field to the right.
Enter the Court Type, court Location, and Case Type, or select them from the corresponding lists.
If your jurisdiction associates docket
codes with case types on the Case Type/Docket Type Rules form (CTRCSDK),
the docket codes do not appear on the Docket Association Entry
form (CDADOCT) for cases entered on either the Parking Ticket Entry form
(CVAPARK) or the Quick Citation Entry form (CVAQMVI). For docket codes
associated with case types to appear on CDADOCT, you must enter the ticket
information on the Traffic Details tab of the Case Initiation form (CMAINIT).
ACS Contexte adds the dockets to the Short Docket tab in CMAINIT. After
the dockets are saved on the Short Docket tab, they show up on CDADOCT.
Optionally, enter or select the Dist. (Distribution) Agency code. This is the agency that issued the parking citation. The description displays in the unlabeled field to the right. This field is used in distribution rules.
To enter a distribution area
in the Traffic Detail block, you must enter a distribution agency.
From the Block menu, select Next.
Enter the Date by which payment for the violation is Due.
Enter the Case ID or enter NEXT to have the system automatically generate a case ID. You can also search for an existing case ID.
Enter the Violation code or select it from the list. The system fills the Amount which can include collectible fees defined for the violation on the Violation/Fine Rule Maintenance form (CTRCFIN) and assessed fees calculated for the violation through the Fine Assessment feature.
Enter the Vio (Violation) Time.
If applicable, enter the parking Meter # (number).
Enter the Citation Number associated with the violation. This represents the actual ticket or citation issued by the law enforcement official. Because multiple charges can appear on a violation and because different agencies may issue citations with the same numbers, this field is not unique.
Enter the Locn (Location) where the alleged violation occurred.
Enter or search for the license Plate number. If you enter a plate number already in the system, the St/Prov (State/Province) that issued the license and the vehicle's Year, Clr (Color), and Make are system-filled, but you can change them before you Save the record. The following considerations apply:
If an owner ID is associated with a license plate/state combination already in the system, it is associated with the case, violation, and fee records.
If the vehicle was not already in the system, it is added when you save the vehicle information here. If you do not have an owner ID, the auto record is created without one, while a party ID of UNKNOWN is associated with the case, violation, and fee records.
If the vehicle was in the system without an associated owner ID, that record remains unchanged. However, a party ID of UNKNOWN is associated with the case, violation, and fee records.
The security level
defined for the UNKNOWN party type on the Party Type Code Rules form (CTRPTYP)
is automatically associated with the party although neither the party
type nor the security level display on the form.
Enter or select the Dist. (Distribution) Area. The description displays in the unlabeled field to the right. This field is used in distribution rules.
If you entered a distribution
agency at the top of the form, you must enter a distribution area.
To enter another parking violation with the same information at the top of the form, select Next from the Record menu. Contexte saves the previous violation and moves to a new record with the same Due Date. You can change either if necessary. Repeat steps 9-16.
To enter another parking violation with different information at the top of the form, Save, then select Clear Form from the File menu and repeat steps 2-16.
Save. When you save the record, bail is calculated automatically. You can view the bail amount on the following forms:
Bail tab of the Case Initiation Maintenance (CMAINIT)
Uniform Bail/Penalty Schedule form (CBAUBPS)
Uniform Bail/Penalty Schedule Inquiry form (CBIUBPS)
When you've finished entering parking violations, Exit the Parking Ticket Entry form (CVAPARK).
When you Exit or select Clear Form from the
File menu, one of two things happens depending on whether Work Flow Rules
exist for the docket code and are activated for your system. More About Work Flow Rules
