Change a Case ID (CDACDCA)
Use the Case Change/Delete form (CDACDCA) to change a case ID. Certain conditions can disqualify a case from being changed. More about Disqualifying Conditions
If you change a case ID, party and case status
records are moved to the new case ID. Party associations are updated with
the new case ID. In addition, all case and case-party
notes, and event text are moved to the new case ID.
If a case ID is deleted, all case and case-party notes, and event text
are deleted.
If any docket codes involved have automatic docket text established in the Automatic Docket Text Rule form (CTRADOC), the rule to apply the automatic text does not apply when changing the case ID.
To change a case ID
Open the Case Change/Delete form (CDACDCA).
Enter or search for a Case ID. Contexte fills the case information fields and automatically checks to see if the case is eligible for changing.
If a case is not eligible, a message
informing you of this appears in the Error Message block.
Select the Change button.
Enter the Reason for the change or choose one from the list.
Enter the New Case ID.
If a case ID is changed, the user performing
the change must notify all appropriate parties of the new case ID. You
can use the Bar Code option to print a bar code
for the new case ID.
Save. If there are content files (for example, text, picture, sound, or movie files) attached to the case record being changed, you will see a message warning you of that. More information
Contexte asks you to confirm your request to change the record(s) indicated in the Message area of this form. If you click:
Yes, a second window appears warning that this action cannot be reversed and asking if you want to continue. Select Yes to change all records and associations noted in the Message area. To continue, you must enter the password you use to sign on to Contexte;
No, all changes to the case and its associated records are canceled.
When you've finished, Exit the Case Change/Delete form (CDACDCA).
