Use the Paper Event/Letter Generation Initiation form (CLAINIT) to select paper/service events for printing.

To print a letter for a paper/service event

  1. Open the Paper Event/Letter Generation Initiation form (CLAINIT).

  2. To see all paper/service events that were created within a certain time frame, enter the appropriate dates in the Projected Dates From and/or To fields.

  3. To see paper/service events of a certain type only, select the desired Paper Event code.

  4. From the Block menu, select Next. ACS Contexte displays the following information:

  5. If necessary, you narrow the display further by querying on Case ID, Projected Date, Code, or Already Processed.

  6. To print the letter associated with an event, do the following:

    1. Check Print? for the event. (Select Print All in the navigation frame to select all events; once all events are selected, you can uncheck individual ones if necessary.)

    2. Save. A pop-up window appears, asking if you want to call Job Submission to print the letters. Select Yes to open the Process Submission Control form (GJAPCTL) with the Umbrella Letter Process (CLPCLTR) already entered. (Select No if you prefer to run the process on GJAPCTL and print the letters at a later time.)

    3. Enter the Printer, fill in the desired parameters, and click Save. (For more about CLPCLTR's parameters, see the ACS Contexte Reports and Processes Manual.)

  7. To print a letter using an ODP mail-merge template (rather than a Letter Generation template), do the following:

    1. Check On-Demand Letter? for the event. (Choose Select All in the navigation frame to select all events; once all events are selected, you can uncheck individual ones if necessary.) For more about selecting parties to receive letters for paper/service events using on-demand printing (ODP), click here.

    2. Select Letter (CLALMRG) in the navigation frame. Note that you must select a letter template on CLALMRG that contains CLAINIT-specific or general ODP variables.

  8. When you are finished selecting paper/service events for printing, Exit the Paper Event/Letter Generation Initiation form (CLAINIT).
