Once you've defined a letter template for Letter Generation, you must set up a paper or service event for the letter and define rules to generate the event on your cases based on certain circumstances.

  1. On the Docket Type Rules form (CTRDTYP), create a docket to be filed on a case when the letter is printed. For example, you might want to create a Notice Sent docket.

  2. On the Event Type Code Rules form (CTREVNT), create a paper/service event for the letter.

  3. Define rules to generate the paper/service event for your letter. You have the options defined in the table below.

    Set ACS Contexte to generate the paper/service event on a case . . .

    Event Rules (CTRERUL)

    When an event of another type is scheduled.

    Docket Rules (CTRDRUL)

    When certain dockets are entered.

    Violation Rules (CTRCRUL)

    When a certain violation is entered.

    Action Item Rules (CTRARUL)

    Within so many days when a certain docket is entered unless another docket of a certain type is entered in response.

  5. On the Paper Event Rules form (CTRPERL), associate the letter with the paper/service event created in step 2, then specify the docket to be recorded when the letter is printed (the docket you defined in step 1).

  6. On the Letter Type/Party Type Rule form (CTRLRUL), specify the default party types to receive the letter.
