Enter Parties to a Case (CDAPRTY)
Use the Party form (CDAPRTY) to enter persons associated with a case and to indicate the relationships between them (for example, associate an Attorney with a Defendant). You can enter a party already in the system or you can enter a new party. If applicable, you can enter the date a party is dismissed from a case.
To enter party information
To have the process check for previous associations
between the defendant and an attorney in the system, enter the defendant
party type before selecting Attorney Assignment.
Open the Party Maintenance form (CDAPRTY). ACS Contexte automatically displays the last case ID that you worked with.
To make entries for a different case, enter or search for a Case ID.
From the Block menu, select Next. If parties have been entered for the case on the Case Initiation Maintenance form (CMAINIT), ACS Contexte displays them.
To indicate a relationship between the current party and another party to the case, select Party Associations from the navigation frame and click here for more information. If you are entering parties, continue with step 4.
If the party being entered is a non-litigant (for example, an attorney) and you try to Save without making an association, you'll receive a warning that the party should be associated with another; however, you can Save without making the association.
Only associated parties display on this
form. An affiliated party, such as an arresting officer, does not. However,
a sequence number is still applied behind the scenes to affiliated parties.
As a result, you may notice gaps in the sequence numbers on CDAPRTY.
Enter the Party Type or select one from the list.
If necessary, you can copy parties from
another case by selecting Case Copy (CDACCOP)
in the navigation frame.
Enter or search for the Party ID. ACS Contexte fills the party Name automatically.
The UNKNOWN party ID is the
only ID that can be changed on this form. The UNKNOWN ID is typically
associated with vehicle records when parking citations are entered. If
the vehicle record is associated with only one case and you change the
UNKNOWN ID here, the vehicle owner ID is updated. However, if the vehicle
record is associated with more than one case, the owner ID is not updated.
The Security Level defined for the party type on the Party Type Code Rules form (CTRPTYP) defaults into the field, but you can change it. 1 = lowest; 9 = highest. More About Security
To indicate that the party needs an interpreter, enter or select the appropriate Language code.
If only one Address Type exists for the party, ACS Contexte displays it along with the Address Seq (Sequence Number). If more than one address exists, you select the one you want.
The system enters the current date as the Start Date, but you can change it.
To end a party's association with the current case:
Enter an End Date.
If you want to enter a reason for the dismissal, select End Reason in the navigation frame to open the End Reason window where you can enter or select an End Reason Code. Select Close Window to save and return to CDAPRTY.
Enter or select a Party Status for the party on this case. The system fills the Status Date and Status Time with the current date and time. You can change either one to a date or time prior to the current date and time.
An existing party on a case
may have a status that resulted from a docket code applying a rule set
up on the Party Status Rule form (CTRPSTS). If necessary, you can change
that status here.
To automatically assign an attorney for the defendant on the case, select Attorney Assignment in the navigation frame.
To have the process check
for previous associations between the defendant and an attorney in the
system, enter the defendant party type before selecting Attorney Assignment.
Save and Exit.
