Use the Violation tab of the Related Disposition form (CMADISP) to change, delete, or view violations for a case and party. You can view violations with an associated disposition and sentence, but you cannot make changes to them unless you first delete the disposition and sentence. Only the current violation information displays on this tab. You can view a history of violation changes/deletions by selecting Violation History in the navigation frame. This option is enabled only if there are changed or deleted violations for the case ID and party ID entered at the top of the form.

Generate/DRAW32.gif When you change or delete a violation, ACS Contexte executes any rules defined for the violation on the Violation  Rules form (CTRCRUL).  For more about CTRCRUL, see the ACS Contexte Setup Manual.

Violation rules can be defined for each court, location, and case type combination. For more information, see the ACS Contexte Setup Manual.

To change a violation

If the violation you want to change has site-defined data assigned to it, you see an alert warning you that site-defined data for the violation must be removed before you can change the violation. To remove site-defined data, select Violation (COASITE) from the navigation frame to access the Site Define Fields Update form (COASITE). For more about COASITE, see the ACS Contexte Setup Manual.

  1. Scroll to the violation you want to change.

  2. Generate/DRAW18.gif To see who entered a violation and the filing date, select User ID and Activity Date (COQUSER) in the navigation frame.

  3. Change any of the following violation information.

  4. Violation Code

  5. Citation Number

  6. DMV tracking indicator

  7. Inc (Inchoate)

  8. Viol Lvl (Violation Level)

  9. Viol Date or time

  10. Due Date

  11. Filing Date or time

  12. Text

  13. If you change Violation Code, Viol Lvl, Viol Date, or Filing Date, ACS Contexte automatically recalculates bail. More about bail calculation

  14. To enter or change any enhancements to the violation, select Violation Enhancements in the navigation frame. If you change the Violation Code, enhancements to the original code are not attached to the new one.

  15. To view a history of violation changes/deletions, select Violation History in the navigation frame. This option is enabled only if changed or deleted violations exist for the case ID and party ID entered at the top of the form.

  16. Save. If your jurisdiction requires the entry of a reason code for a record change, the Change Reason window opens. Enter a Reason code and click OK to save the change or Cancel to abort the violation record change.

If your jurisdiction does not require the entry of a reason code, you can save without one. However, you always have the option of manually entering a reason code by selecting Change Reason in the navigation frame. More about the Change Reason window

To delete a violation

  1. Scroll to the violation you want to delete. You cannot delete a violation which has a disposition.

  2. If the violation you want to delete has site-defined data assigned to it, you see an alert warning you that site-defined data for the violation will also be deleted.

    If you click OK, the site-defined data is removed when the violation is deleted. If you click Cancel, no changes are made and the alert closes.

  3. In the navigation frame, select Delete Violation.

  4. If you delete a violation ACS Contexte automatically recalculates bail. More about bail calculation

  5. Save. If your jurisdiction requires entry of a reason code for a record deletion, the Change Reason window opens. Enter a Reason code and click OK to save the deletion or Cancel to abort the violation record deletion.
