Filing a Case (CMAINIT)
Use the Case Initiation Maintenance form (CMAINIT) to file a case. In the top of the form, you enter a case ID and other general information, such as the court location and case security. Once an ID is assigned, the case is officially filed. You can also attach content (for example, text documents, pictures, sound files, or movies) to a case record.
If your jurisdiction uses the automatic case
status update feature, the person setting up your system may have designated
a status to be assigned automatically when a case is initially filed.
The status is assigned only if no other action is taken that would affect
case status. For example, entering dockets and events can also cause case
status to be automatically updated.
On the form's tabs, you can enter parties, party demographics, dockets, events, violations, arrest information, and traffic details for the current case. Note that you must enter a party before you can move to the Demographics, Violation, Arrest, or Traffic Detail tabs. You can attach content to a party record on the Party tab or to a docket record on the Short Docket tab. More About Tab Availability
